Therapeutic group programme
Participation by patients in Vista Clinic's daily programme ensures specific problems can be addressed. Some of the themes are also part of our Saturday and Sunday morning programme.
Therapeutic journeys aim to enhance self-knowledge and to assist patients in acquiring new skills to face the challenges of life.
At Vista Clinic we cover different themes in the group program. These themes are grouped into “journeys” aimed to assist a person in developing a specific interpersonal skill or to manage problems in a more effective way. Referred journeys do not form part of the day to day program and are specifically for patients with special requirements i.e. PTSD, Abuse and our youth.
Therapeutic journeys
Journey to Emotional Wellness
The first step to emotional wellness is to acknowledge and understand our feelings. The focus of this journey is on empowering people to manage emotions as well as emotional challenges such as depression and anxiety. Emotions are a powerful force – control of this unique human characteristic leads to the discovery that emotions can serve as a motivator towards healing.
Journey to Healthy Choices
Life is a constant cycle of choices and changes. This journey challenges people to utilise their intrinsic value system in the process of managing changes and seeking solutions for the problems life throw at us on a constant basis. The focus is on a balanced lifestyle.
Journey to Healthy Relationships
Without relationships we as human beings are left without support, love and care. Relationships often go wrong – this journey explores aspects we need to manage to maintain a healthy relationship: communication, conflict, anger etc.
Journey to Inner Healing
Life and relationships set constant challenges. Often we find ourselves struggling to overcome guilt feelings, losses through death or changes and forgiveness issues. This journey will set you on the road to spiritual growth and recovery.
Journey to Freedom from destructive beliefs
“We are because we think” - Sometimes past experiences play an important role in what we think or believe of ourselves. But we don't have to be the victims of the above. This journey helps us to identify irrational thoughts and beliefs and the role they play in the way we act / interact in a situation. By identifying this, we are enabled to change these destructive thoughts and beliefs. Although we cannot change events we can change the outcome in terms of emotional response and behaviour.
Family support journey – Thursday evenings 18:00 – 19:00
Families are essential to resolving m ental health problems. Support of a patient whilst in Vista Clinic is beneficial to everyone involved. Not only does this journey empower families with facts but it also de-stigmatises and reduces anxiety.
